Birthday Week

Mia Garlock

This week has been So good to me!

Typically I don't have much going on for my Birthday week, I don't like huge groups of people and I don't like a lot of crazy noise so I'm not much for parties. I spent a lot of my youth being wild and crazy and now that I'm 36 I just don't want that same vibe anymore, I'm in my Hobbit Era, and I want cozy and calm.

This year was a little different though, because I started a new day job on my birthday! Things have been pretty tight over here lately and I needed a job I could do a few days a week and still have time for my own business. I landed a pretty great one! My hours are great, it's 4 days on a week and 3 days off, my coworkers are pretty amazing, and I love the customers I get to meet and interact with.

My new job presents a lot of learning opportunities too and my inner geek is really loving how much new information there is to gather up and organize in my noggin.

I worked until closing on my birthday, so by the time I got home I wasn't really interested in any big celebrations anyway. I felt like I was celebrating the win of a new job all day. I did get a celebratory Matcha.

My husband has had to pick up where I'm usually cooking in the kitchen. We are opposites in kitchen skills- my strong suits are savory and rich dinners, where he excels at breakfast. I've been enjoying the benefits of him taking over kitchen duty in the mornings.

The rest of this week flew by because of my schedule, but I also picked up a new online coaching client and sold a few more copies of my cookbook, so I feel like all week long I have been celebrating wins left and right!

I haven't gotten my annual slice of birthday cheesecake though, so I might just make some today now that I have a day off and I'm home with my family.
