August 18: Jello Limbs
“Maybe he’d been a fool to hope, to think one lesson might be enough-Muffled cursing filled the stairwell beyond the archway. Each scrape of boots seemed to move slowly. He didn’t dare to breathe, not as her cursing grew nearer. Inch by inch. As if it was taking her a long, long time to climb the stairs. And then she was there, hand braced on the wall, a grimace of such misery on her face that Cassian laughed. Nesta scowled, but he only said, relief wobbling his knees, “I should have realized.” “Realized what?” she stopped five feet from him. “That you’d be late because you’re so sore you can’t climb the stairs.” pages 157 & 158, A Court of Silver Flames
Okay, this quote IS MY LIFE TODAY.
When the alarm went off this morning and it was time to get out of bed to start the day, I could do nothing but roll out of bed like a lump. Legs stiff, back aching and sore, my thighs felt like they were tearing themselves apart just standing still, thanks to Helion’s Power Thigh workout yesterday in a Court of Sweat and Sass. I immediately knew that today would be all about stretching and breathing through moves and holds to limber up.
“I need to sit down.” “And risk not being able to get back up?” He grinned. “Not a chance.” He nodded to the space beside him, “stretches.” She grumbled, but she got into position. page 158, A Court of Silver Flames
So, I started today with a long, long yoga session. I did a pretty standard Sun Salutation, with some Warrior poses and Airplanes thrown in there so I could get my footwork in too, because as Cass says, it starts with your feet, learning to grip the ground with your toes. And because I’m crazy, or maybe just dedicated, I also went back to that Core and Balance workout and did that too.
Probably not Cassian approved, but I did today’s workout on an empty stomach. I knew that if I tried doing core and balance work and yoga with a full belly that it would keep me focused on how my stomach felt being compressed and full, and not on my breath or my stretch. So I started my workout with just water and a lot of focus, and believe me I was STARVING by the time I was through, and promptly devoured my Cassian Approved Overnight Oats and some hot tea.
Now if only I had the tub that’s in the House of Wind…. I could really use a hot soak!
