A Trip to the Day Court, and Helion's Powerful Thighs

Each time I do these workouts on the Maasverse Quest I am taken back to when I was pregaming Court workouts from The Micro Squad in preparation for Valkyrie Squad launching. I had a month before launch day, and with my experience in preparing for a physical event- like a 5k, 10k, or marathon- I knew that the best start I could give myself was to start working out early.


So I've been here before, you see. I've been to the Day Court, I've cackled with Becca and Sam on the mat while we groan our way through lunges and other quad-killing moves. Fantasizing about Helion's Powerful thighs the way that Feyre described them to us, using it as fuel and inspiration for our own powerful thighs.


And the subsequent swearing and stumbling trying to make my way off of the mat after the workout. Sweaty. Shaking. Disoriented. Unsure if I can call myself powerful at all.


I will say though that with each of these workout revisits through Maasverse, I get to see exactly how far I've come. These were some of the very first workouts I did from The Micro Squad, and man did I struggle through a lot of them! Now, I am struggling for different reasons- because I'm doing a harder variation this time, or because I'm pushing myself for more reps, or to move a little faster, hold a little longer in the deepest part of the movement. I'm pushing myself differently than I was before, because I'm that much stronger than the first time I did these workouts.


Even though my quads are pretty sure they're tearing apart with each step, just like last time.


It's raining and gross outside today and the aforementioned quads are quading and maybe dying a little bit. Foam rolling is indeed in my future. And a hot bath, a la Nesta and the House of Wind.
